Category: Random Ramblings

With the lovely Swine Flu leaving me pretty rough, that final round of auctions has been held up by this rather obvious reason.  I’m now sitting with a wee bundle of items which will be listed this evening to hit that £10k mark.

I am also all but ready to launch my new fundraising venture for 2011/12, with the site ready to go live once I have hit the £10000 mark 🙂

I will post again tonight once I have the auctions online 🙂

Well that blast of flu that has been bothering me since the turn of the year was diagnosed this morning as being swine flu, so that explains the constant lack of energy and the fact I have been wiped out for much of 2011 to date.  It’s keeping me inside just now (I’m not meant to go anywhere on Doctor’s orders) so bear with me if you have items due to be sent out… they will go out next week all being well.

Away from that, I think the auctions ending today are going to end just short of the marker needed for the £10000 hit, so I will be adding some more listings over the coming days.  While I am stuck in the flat, I can still get stuff online, and I will be listing on a longer term basis to allow them to be posted more efficiently after the end of the auction.

That £10k mark is blooming close, and I cannot wait to hit it 🙂

It may be blurry (thanks Mr Samsung Camera Phone without flash) but pictured to the right is the latest footballer to donate matchworn items to auction.  Hamilton Accies’ James McAlister, who donated a pair of signed worn boots on Wednesday.  It’s the second time he has donated boots for auction, so a HUGE thank you 🙂

Other items coming in include a signed GB shirt from Phillips Idowu, new doodles and photographs and all sorts of goodies.  My next round of auctions will be in the next few days, and will run for seven days in a bid to raise the final amount needed to reach the £10000 mark!

Plans are afoot for my follow up fundraising, and I will be confirming all that once the £10000 mark is achieved.  In the meantime, I have signed myself up for Great Scottish Run Half Marathon no4, next September 🙂

Have a brilliant New Year Folks, see you in 2011

🙂

Its All GO!

Firstly, its a HUGE thank to Adam Bloom who has been busy sourcing awesome signed items for me to auction. Already arriving through my letterbox are multi signed Little Britain and Inbetweeners DVDS thanks to Adam’s contacts and sense of absolute decency, so it really is a HUGE thanks to Adam.  You can expect to see those items and more up for auction shortly after Xmas.

On the main fundraising front, I am just a whisker away from that final donation which will take me to the £10000 mark and I cannot wait to make that donation 🙂  Money is still coming in from the last round of sales, and I plan to have a massive round of post Xmas auctions online to tip me through the final marker.

As this happens, I am already working on launching the next fundraising venture I will be involved with, so please do keep an eye on the site for news coming soon 🙂

Adam, along with several others in Twitter world, have been kind enough to support my fundraising through the method of tweeting my web address for the world to see, and I cannot thank everyone enough who has helped in this way.  I need to update the page to reflect everyone who has tweeted, but how chuffed was I to get two of the top three in The Apprentice 2010 to tweet away from (thanks Chris Bates & Jamie Lester).  Thanks also to candidate Joy Stefanicki who is encouraging as much support as she can through Twitter.#

Having raised a tidy amount from the auction of boots donated by Motherwell star Ross Forbes, I am delighted to announce the latest to show his support through match worn items is St Mirren midfielder Steven Thomson.  Also on board, with a pair of boots at some point during the season, is Saints youngster Kenny McLean.

Thanks to both lads for their support.

If I don’t get online tomorrow…

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

It has been a busy day in the world of The10GrandCharityChallenge, so busy it deserves a whole special font of its on for this very post.  So while I am listening to the wonderful Scouting for Girls here’s what has been going on…

First up – a huge thanks to those wonderful Tweet folk who have helped to spread the word of my fundraising in the last 24 hours… from Darren Gough to Simon Blackwell… your Tweets were appreciated.  I will add a page to the site tonight to chronicle the tweets from each (and there were several more), and to say thanks in the only way I can.

I am also delighted with BIG sale of the day… the signed Ralph Steadman artwork which finished this afternoon just a few pennies under the £260 mark 🙂

Finally, and most importantly (yes, that’s why I chose to go back to this crazy big font, even though it looks ever so slightly strange on this page) is the confirmation of my donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity today. Added to the kitty was another £2000 (including the money donated by you wonderful people at my JustGiving page) and takes the total donation (SO FAR) to £5000.  At the same time the totaliser at the top of the page clears the £7000 mark.  With more money coming in every day through auctions, the next marker is not too far away, and it will be the BIG one!!

Check out my auctions which are running all day today to find some awesome items and add even more into the kitty!!

….is it true what they say about posh girls? 😉

A big welcome to new visitors to the site.  The hit rate has been doing very well in the last few weeks, and its been five days since the daily hit rate dropped below treble figures.  Thanks for taking the time to visit the site, and if you’re just finding me today do take a look around the site, find out what it is all about and then tell all your friends.  I can also be found on Twitter @10_g_challenge so come find me there.

I’ve added a few more auctions tonight, and am prepping some more for tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled.  Most end tomorrow night, so make sure you don’t miss out on the best place to find the most awesome of Xmas presents.

I refused to venture to the post office today given the weather conditions, so those items which have not been posted yet should hopefully be on way tomorrow.  I am sure you all know Scotland is in the midsts of major issues with the snow, so even ones which have been posted might not make it for a while as they rely on Royal Mail to cart them about.  Please show patience in allowing time for your items to arrive.

You may remember the brilliant promotional artwork produced by a long term supporter of my charity work, Kristen McLachlan for The TARDIS Project.  I was so delighted with it, I asked if she would be kind enough to create one for Dalek Doodle Day, which you can now see in this post 🙂

Thanks to Kris for the creation – its AWESOME 🙂

My aim was to be able to hit  a minimum target of £2000 by now, and I am pretty darned close to the figure now.  I am currently organising all the funds raised in the last month or so, and collating cheques, cash and sponsorship as well as moving the money from Paypal so that next week I can make a donation to GOSH directly from my Switch Account.

This is by no means the final donation of the yar, and I am planning to smash through the £10k mark within six weeks of now.  I am aware of at least one major boost to the fundraising which will come in the coming weeks, though I will hold that of until it is actual present to be donated.  I am also rather hopeful that the donation I make to GOSH next week is higher than the £2000 mark, so please do check out MY SALES PAGE HERE and see what is up for grabs.

Last night’s auctions brought in just shy of £170, though fees were higher than normal as I have exceeded my limit of free listings for the month and now have to pay a minimum of 10p for each listing.  Overall, still a nice boost to the totals.  I am still awaiting some payments from the last round of auctions, and roughly speaking, I think I am about £200 away from my target, with a very realistic chance of hitting that in the next few days.  I am going to put a final (pre-target) round of auctions online later today, to boost the amount coming in, and am going to have a proper dig around to find as much good stuff as I can to put online.

I also have some requests going out tomorrow, once I can get through the snow to the post office, and I’ll be getting all the sold and paid for items out at the same time.

In the meantime, LOADS to do 🙂

Woosh… its been a busy day, between working on course assessments and getting auctions kicked into gear, but its been worth it.  Dalek Doodle Day is underway, and the mix of Dalek Doodles and TARDIS art is now online.  The live auction total just now is a record for one time for me, 131, and features a mix of match worn football items, signed Dr Who cards, photographs, doodles and the aforementioned Dalek and TARDIS creations.

The first round finish tomorrow, with the rest staggered over the next three days, so click right here to go straight to my eBay page and check them out.

I was delighted to be the featured blogger on the offical Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity Blog this week, and you can find my musings by clicking on the GOSH logo to the left.

HUGE thanks to Kate Murray who ran the Great Scottish Run in September and very kindly donated the sponsor money she raised to my fundraising.  Thanks to Kate for adding £90 to the kitty 🙂

In the meantime, lets get bidding 🙂

Those who know me will know I am a MASSIVE fan of Feeder and was thrilled when Grant and Taka donated some signed items for auction when I met them at their Glasgow gig recently.

I am now even more grateful to the band for posting a link to this page on their official Facebook page tonight.

Cheers Guys 🙂
